- b. 1909, CordobaWriter (pseudonym "Concha Lagos")Primarily a poet, Gutiérrez Torrero also founded and directed Cuadernos de Agora (1956–64). Cultivat-ing personal poetry in the Andalusian tradition, she employs classic metres with some popular forms. Later works become more meditative, philosophical and metaphysical. Characteristic collections blend transcendent speculation with existential concern for daily life, human solitude and anguish. Antología 1954– 1976 represents varied aspects of a quarter century's output. Significant collections include Agua de Dios (Water from God) (1958), Luna de enero (January Moon) (1961), Tema fundamental (Fundamental Theme) (1961), Campo abierto (Open Country) (1959) and Teoría de la inseguridad (Theory of Insecurity) (1980).
